Pole/Rudder/Chain Plates

I definitely need to go back to work, I'm so tired after this four day weekend because of Easter.

The rudder support, gudgeon, has been carbon fibred and is all ready to go bar some fairing and paint down the track. The top and bottom of the gudgeon scored 6 layers of 300gsm uni with two layers of 300 double bias in the corners.

The beginnings of the chain plates have been glued into place. The chain plates themselves will be carbon fiber which will be built/moulded next weekend with a little help from our mate Peter Croft (who has also just been commissioned to build our rudder cassette/tiller).

Yesterday I laid up the receiving tube for the spinnaker pole, it's turned out well and I fitted it to the bow this morning, I lost count but I think I have about 12 layers of 450gsm DB fibreglass with 2 layers of 300gsm uni carbon (over-kill? probably!) ----I'm liking it a lot, I think it looks tough and strong!
