All the fittings are now in place, the placement of the jib tracks and blocks required a little work because of my funky shaped cabin and I also wanted the jib cleats as far back as reasonable as I plan to sail/race one-up and two-up more than anything else.
All the sheets are on and the wiring for the navigation lights and VHF radio are done. I had a bit of fun there also as one of the wires was broken from brand new so I had to replace wiring before the boat has even hit the water. This turned an easy half hour job into a two hour job.
In two days time a shipwright is coming out to look 'Charlene' over and sign off on her so then we can get her insured. Charlene is not getting sailed until she's insured, it's just not worth the potential drama to go out without it.
The same day, Monday, our sailmaker is bringing our race sails to us--can't wait! I have 'tuned' the rig after buying a Loos Gauge (rig wire tension gauge) so we have a bit more pre-bend than when the sailmaker came out last to measure up for our race sails----should still be ok though.
If all goes well on Monday with everyone turning up, we (I) plan to put her (quietly) in the water next Saturday morning for her first short cruise. The only thing left to test is raising the keel which I can't do until she's in the water--hope I can get the keel back up!
$80 for the ugliest spinnaker ever made!, and it's just about had it and you'd expect for the price.
It's not quite a full hoist with the pole all the way out. (12ft skiff #1).
Thanks to Jon we have the old fractional kite back again which will be good for
cruising and those holy crap races.
Furler works and the jib traveler tracks are now in place, and the navigation lights are powered up.
Main is ok and will be good for cruising.
