First sail finally

We finally had a nice light breeze for a change and were able to take Charlene out comfortably.

Everything worked as it should and we had no surprises which was nice.

The headsail we used is our cruising jib and it performed as expected (crap). The headsail had no hanks so it was falling away to leeward and obviously not giving us any height.

On top of this, as you can see, it is very small. On the other hand the main is enormous and performed very well and we were needing to de-power a bit in the 'gusts' of 8 ish knots.

We put up our biggest spinnaker only, which is a #1 18ft skiff spinnaker. I think 18ft skiff kites are anything between 60 and 80sqm, so yeah for us it was figging huge! And did it have so power! We simply couldn't power it right up because we didn't have enough weight on the 'rail', Charlene was on the verge of planning in 5-7 odd knots--wow!!!
