Race sails & Survey

We had a shipwright come out to inspect our build today and as expected there were no issues and we were given our paper work to pass onto the insurance company saying the boat was ok to insure. That cost us $150 which we thought was pretty fair.

The survey was in the morning and in the afternoon we had Josh Mortensen come out with our racing main to trial fit it to the mast. I didn't tie the main halyard to the main properly (can't remember the last time I didn't tie a knot properly) and we lost the halyard with the main a foot from the top. Then when trying to get the main back down, so we could use the spinnaker halyard to hoist, the main jammed up on the mast track joint about 5ft from the top---bloody hell. We finally got it down and re-hoisted to find that the luff round was not right and would need to be re-cut---bugger!
That's me trying to tie the outhaul on while the breeze is trying to take the main out of my hand.
And Josh Mortensen (sail-maker) supervising, and the main could be hoisted a bit further is we were actually using the main halyard not the kite halyard from around the corner.

So all in all a productive but expensive day and the bills aren't done yet with a main sail re-cut to come, we wont be getting in the water as soon as we/ I hoped. I was hoping for next Saturday and it's now looking at being a couple more weeks at least. No rush, no rush, no rush--do it properly not quickly.

Main is up and headsail on, looking a lot like a race boat.
